Why it matters
What We’re Advocating For
Nearly 500 NZPIF members spent 30 minutes each in January 2026 telling us what they need politicians to hear. These are the four things that matter most going into the election.
Your contribution and your per-litre rebate fund NZPIF’s Wellington meetings, formal submissions, and media work between now and 7 November 2026.
Keep Interest Deductibility
We got it back in 2024. The election puts it at risk again. Full mortgage interest deductibility is what keeps rental investment viable for ordinary New Zealanders. Without it, costs rise and rents follow.
No Capital Gains Tax on Rental Property
Singling out residential investment property for a CGT while other asset classes remain untouched is not tax policy — it’s political targeting. It reduces rental supply, forces early exits, and pushes rents up. Targeting investment property alone is not acceptable.
Stable, Predictable Policy Rules
You cannot plan a 25-year investment around a 3-year political cycle. Every time the rules change — interest deductibility, tenancy law, bright-line tests — investors reassess whether it is worth continuing. Many are already exiting. What the sector needs is not favourable treatment, just consistent rules that do not shift with every election.
Protect Small Property Investors
Most rentals are owned by ordinary people with one or two properties, building towards retirement. They know their tenants, keep rents reasonable, and maintain their properties. When policy makes that unviable, they exit — and rents go up. Politicians need to understand who is actually providing New Zealand’s rental housing.
Your $35 or $45 contribution goes directly into the fund. Every litre after that keeps adding to it automatically — at whatever giving level you choose.
Simple process
How It Works
1
Contribute
Pay your $35 (member) or $45 (supporter) advocacy contribution. This goes directly to NZPIF’s 2026 election fund.
2
Sign up with Kora
After payment you are redirected straight to the Kora sign-up page. The form takes less than 5 minutes. Choose your giving level – Give 2, Give 4, or Give 10 cents per litre to NZPIF
3
Cards arrive
Kora posts two cards to you — one Waitomo, one Mobil — in 3 to 5 days. Keep them in your vehicle.
4
Fill up and save
Use your card at any of the 390+ stations. Your savings apply automatically. Your rebate goes to NZPIF every quarter.
Waitomo already prices fuel well below the major brands — often 20 to 30c per litre less than Z and BP. Your Kora discount stacks on top of that at every Waitomo and Mobil station in the network.
Note: some NPD and Allied sites can be used with your Kora Mobil card (essentially if there is no Mobil nearby its highly likely the NPD or Allied will provide a discount for you). Contact Kora on 0800 KORA NZ or check with them directly to find accepting stations near you.
You choose
How Much Goes to NZPIF?
When you sign up through Kora, you choose how to split your ongoing 10c per litre discount between your own savings and NZPIF’s advocacy fund. During the launch period (until 20 July 2026) the extra 3c always goes to you on top. Three options:
Give 2
LEGEND
8c
per litre — your saving
2c
per litre — to NZPIF advocacy fund
You keep most of the discount and NZPIF receives a steady contribution every time you fill up.
Give 4
ROCKSTAR
6c
per litre — your saving
4c
per litre — to NZPIF advocacy fund
A stronger contribution to the advocacy fund while still getting a meaningful saving on every fill.
Give 10
HERO
0c
per litre — your saving
10c
per litre — to NZPIF advocacy fund
The full discount goes to NZPIF’s election work. Every litre you buy is a direct contribution to the advocacy fund.
Select your giving level when you complete your Kora sign-up. NZPIF receives the accumulated rebate from Kora each quarter.
